Our story

Inspired by his skill and passion for driving tractors, diggers and moving dirt, Andrew started excavation and earthworks contracting company We Dig Earthworks.

Born and bred into rural life, Andrew spent much of his adult life working on dairy farms. From maintaining machinery to pulling down old cow sheds and building new ones, the dairy life has given him hands-on experience and valuable insights.

Andrew believes that his 20 years experience in the rural industry has benefited his earthmoving business. When people call up for a quote, he's pretty keen to inspect the job for himself. He likes to put customers first - sometimes he might identify problem areas that could arise, and then talk over the best solutions with his customer.

"The thing I enjoy about rural earthworks is that I can quickly spot any potential challenges," says Andrew

"I'll chat with the farmer to discuss the best way to go ahead, and offer advice to make sure the job runs smoothly without going over budget."

Understanding our customers' needs is our point of difference

Andrew goes on to say that communication is key to every project. He finds that he can relate well to his customers and can quickly see what they want to achieve.

"Working on farms for all those years means I understand what our clients need. It's given my business a real point of difference, and that's something that only comes with experience."

Although much of the work is rural, Andrew also likes to take on smaller jobs too. Lifestyle blocks, land contouring and driveways are a popular enquiry. Andrew always has the right machinery at hand to do any job, large or small.

We Dig Earthworks is based in Tauranga, a central point for the Bay of Plenty, and East and South Waikato which includes many farms, kiwifruit orchards, lifestyle blocks and urban work.

"We go as far north as Waihi and as far south as Tirau and Putaruru and cover eastern Waikato to Karapiro" Andrew says.

"Usually, all our work is within an hour’s drive of Tauranga. We get enquiries just outside these areas, and depending on the size of the job we're sometimes able to help those customers out."
